I am working on bovine milk samples. I have collected the milk samples and centrifugrd them at 2500g for 20 min and collected the pellet. Could you plese send the protocol for cell pellet washes and if present DNA extraction protocols. It is an independent work by me and you will be highly acknowledged for the help

I did don't offer, don't refuse and I would think she was weaning... But she'd always come back. She finally weaned for real recently, just after she turned 3. I'm glad I let her decide when to wean, it's taxing but it's worth it. :)

I wound up doing the don't offer, don't refuse weaning technique sooner because my son seemed really ready at 13 months. By the time he was 15 months, he was weaned off and I wound up getting pregnant again shortly thereafter so I'll see how long we stay with it this time.

I appreciate this too -- it can be so easy to fall into an all or nothing attitude and your suggestions really show how it can be done gradually and in a way that works for everyone.

I did something similar with my oldest when my second was born -- we went down to nursing at bedtime, and that worked for me, and him, for years. Both of my kids have nursed until they were five or older. My youngest is just now stopping (I am more ready than him) but I have gradually been guiding him toward "holding the boobie" and just the other night he didn't get a let-down and we talked about how the milk stops after a while. He had a little cry about it, and we are working through it. :)

I've been nursing (two kids) continuously for eight years and eight months!

Fabulous post! I agree with everything! I did a lot of these things when I was getting my oldest to cut back (and eventually wean completely, my choice) with my oldest when I was pregnant and it was so helpful.

With my twins, I found I had to set more limits and structure our nursing a bit differently since I was juggling three kids and two nurslings, and have used all the the strategies you mention with great success! There is NO WAY I would still be able to be nursing my girls (4 in May, wow!) if I had not set firm limits. They are almost done now, and I love how child-led weaning is going (they have regular discussions between themselves about weaning, which is pretty interesting!).

Julia, I did want to throw out there that I had pretty severe morning sickness during my twin pregnancy and nursing (with limits) was actually really useful -- it was a great way to connect with my active toddler (or get her to sleep) while still staying horizontal -- which was KEY for me! She wasn't nursing for very long at a time or getting much milk, so I felt like it wasn't depleting me energy wise too much. I did eventually wean her mid-pregnancy once I was feeling better and had more mental and physical energy to work on it.

If you are nursing in public and anyone looks at you in a sexual way, that is ALL on them. THEY should feel disgusted with themselves and feel ashamed. Maybe THEY were NOT breastfed as babies? I have ever only had one incident where I was asked to cover up and I did not do it. Babies get too hot and annoyed, anyway! If I am nursing, I pop out my small breast and put it in my toddler's mouth. YUM. No fussing, no getting ready, food is right there, ready to go! Anyone who has a "problem" with nursing infants/toddlers/children in public, MUST be ashamed of their OWN bodies/biology/sexuality. Anyone who asks a mother to cover up or to stop breastfeeding must be (politely?) told that they need to "shut up." I suppose these people also cover their children's eyes (or their own) if they see ANIMALS nursing or procreating. One could only assume there is some serious brainwashing/damage that has occurred in these people.

I wore a nursing bra with the first couple, then realized it wasn't necessary. I just pull down (or up!) a regular bra. Also, with my fourth I finally had a boppy pillow, and I really enjoyed it. I might buy one for a nursing Mama, but a regular pillow can do the same job, really.

I tend to be super minimalist and utilitarian in all areas of my life, so I would say that the only thing absolutely necessary is a baby and a boobie! :D I'm glad that was your bottom line.
